Best Places for Family Photos in Wentzville, Missouri
A Small Town with An Abundance of Beautiful Locations
I grew up about 30 miles East of where we now raise our family. We have grown to love Wentzville and all it has to offer. It continues to grow seemingly exponentially even in just the last 10 years. One of my favorite things about Wentzville is it's number of nearby nature parks and trails that are not only a great place to take the kids to enjoy the day but also are great hidden gems for my clients for photo locations. It is also beneficial that each location changes so beautifully throughout the year, so even the same spots will look totally different and beautiful in their own way even just weeks later. Without giving away too many of my favorite hidden gems, I wanted to share some great locations to get family photos done in our area, just a short drive out of St. Louis to these beautiful spots.
Quail Ridge
Right off Hwy 40, this nice park not only has a fenced-in dog park, frisbee golf course, playgrounds, and a creek but also tons of walking trails and a nice pond. So many great locations here with all different vibes depending what you are going for and it changes so frequently I never have two sessions that look the same. I have shot here in all four seasons with great backgrounds.
Towne Park
I just recently starting using this gem for photo session and I absolutely love it. There is a beautiful wildflower field, tall grasses, and a wooden bridge and archway. In addition to great photography spots there is a playground, a pond, and an amazing outdoor playscape that my children love to play at.
Indian Camp Creek
This is a larger park with a lot to offer just West of Wentzville in Foristell, MO. Obviously it has a creek to shoot in which can be so great for some variety and the kids love it. It also has tall grasses, rolling hills, and a large pond which all provide great photo locations. The park itself has so many great activities with multiple playgrounds including a brand new large playground off the pond, another Frisbee golf course, hiking trails, and horse trails. We have been enjoying this park since we first moved to Wentzville.
Oglesby Park
A new park that just opened summer of 2022, it has 199 acres of natural landscape with at least two ponds for fishing, a large playground, and paved trails great for strollers or biking. I am excited to see how the landscape will grow over the next year since the construction is finally completed, but it is a great addition to Wentzville's parks and an awesome bonus for a family photographer, as it is basically in our backyard.
Broemmelsiek Park
Not technically in Wentzville but definitely worth the drive. This park is down Hwy DD in Defiance just outside of O'Fallon, MO. This large park (485 acres) has a number of beautiful ponds, a creek, an off leash dog park with it's own pond, multiple walking trails and playgrounds as well as gorgeous views. It has been one of my favorite spots for summer and fall family photos.
So as you see, lots of varying options at so many great parks in the area. They are not only beautiful for photo sessions but for all types of fun outdoor activities for the family. I am a lucky mom and photographer to live here.
